To refer a friend, the customer will need to go to their account page. In the “My Account” section, there will be a link to refer friends. The customer can refer multiple friends by entering their email addresses, separated by commas. These friends will each receive an email with a link to the store, which includes the referral ID of the customer. If they click this link and place an order, the customer will receive their referral points. 

Scenario 1

Mike sends Edna a friend referral and Edna has NEVER been to your site. Edna clicks the link in the email and is taken to your site. Edna creates an account and places an order. Mike gets points for Edna's order. 4 months later, Edna places another order. Mike would get points for that order as well. So basically everytime Edna places an order with that account she created on the first time she went to the site, Mike would get points.

Scenario 2

Mike sends Edna a friend referral and Edna has ALREADY been to your site and created an account. Mike would not get any points for any of Ednas orders.

Scenario 3

Mike and Joe BOTH send Edna a referral. Edna clicks the link in the email Joe sent FIRST and is taken to your site. Edna creates an account and places an order. Joe gets points for Ednas order. 4 months later, Edna places another order. Joe would get points for that order as well. Then Edna clicks the link in Mikes referral, she places an order, Joe would still get the points.
